Hotels in London
April 18, 2008
Most hotels in London are concentrated in the central boroughs (with around 72% of the total stock) but there has been considerable dispersal over the past 10 years, and further dispersal is expected. Key areas of growth have been the east (Newham, Tower Hamlets) and the west (Hounslow, Hillingdon).
A good option is the TOWER THISTLE HOTEL - this four star hotel has a spectacular location overlooking the River Thames, Tower Bridge and St Katherine’s Marina with its colourful yachts, shops, walkways and restaurants.
The bedrooms are air-conditioned and have private bathrooms with both bath and shower. All rooms are equipped with satellite TV, radio, trouser press, iron, mini bar, in-room safe, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. 24-hour Internet access is available in each room at a small supplementary charge.
The charm of London, England
April 18, 2008
Tourism is of tremendous importance to London, accounting for ten per cent of the capital’s economy and promoting Londoners’ quality of life by supporting leisure and cultural facilities.
Numbers of visitors to London generally rose through the 1990s and peaked in 2000 with over 30 million visits!!.
The major attractions that draw tourists – especially first-time visitors – are mostly the iconic landmarks such as the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, or significant galleries and museums such as the British Museum and the National Gallery, or the best-known shopping streets such as Oxford Street and Knightsbridge.
